Albert Nicholl appointed as Chair of Nami Surgical

Press Release

Fresh from our recent announcement of securing £3.2 million in investment and grant funding, Nami Surgical is delighted to welcome Albert Nicholl as Chair and Non-Executive Director of the Board.

Albert joins Nami at an exciting stage in the company’s growth. We are entering a new phase of product development, moving to new headquarters with expanded R&D laboratory facilities and growing our technical team to support the development and commercialisation of our technology.

An accomplished MedTech professional, Albert has held leadership positions at global healthcare companies including Stryker and Orthofix. Over the past decade, he has focused on supporting early-stage, scalable businesses, drawing on extensive experience in global healthcare operations, market strategy, organisational restructuring and business improvement programmes.

Alongside his considerable industry experience, Albert brings a strong focus on leadership and developing high-performing teams. He places particular importance on individual mentoring and understanding how people with different skills and strengths can work effectively together. This experience will be invaluable as Nami continues to grow its team and progresses new surgical technologies towards market.

Albert’s relationship with Nami began through Scottish Enterprise’s High Growth portfolio, where he initially worked with the team as a mentor. He has since continued to support Nami’s co-founders, Nico and Rebecca, providing guidance as the company has developed and grown.

His appointment as Chair and Non-Executive Director strengthens this relationship and will enable Nami to benefit more closely from his strategic, commercial and leadership experience as the company enters its next phase of growth..

Our co-founder and Chief Technical Officer, Dr Rebecca Cleary, commented:

“Nami is entering an exciting stage. With fresh investment we are able to fast-track our first product to market, carry out more research to develop our product pipeline, and truly push the limits of what’s possible in ultrasonic surgery.

Albert’s guidance across all aspects of our business will be a vital support as we look to commercialise and compete on the global Medtech market.”

Alongside his ongoing governance responsibilities as Chair, Albert will play an important role in developing strategic partnerships and supporting Nami’s wider commercial strategy as the company progresses towards market.
