Albert Nicholl appointed as Chair of Nami Surgical

Fresh from our recent announcement of securing £3.2m of investment and grant funding, all of us at Nami Surgical are thrilled to welcome Albert Nicholl to the team as Non-executive Director and Chair of the board. His appointment comes at an exceptionally good time, as we enter a new stage of product development which includes a move to new headquarters with increased R&D lab space, and an expanded technical team to support future growth.

An accomplished Medtech professional with experience in leadership roles at global companies like Stryker and Orthofix, Albert Nicholl has spent the last ten years of his career supporting early-stage, scalable businesses. His experience in the delivery of global healthcare operations includes market strategy, restructuring, and high-level improvement programmes.

As well as abundant industry experience, Albert recognises the importance of the leadership team and the strengths therein, and as a result places a keen focus on individual mentoring. In fact, Albert often relies upon a personality profiling tool alongside teams that he works with, to better understand how people with different talents might work together most efficiently.  His expertise will undoubtedly prove useful on all accounts as we bring new products to market that respond to the needs of clinicians across the globe.

Initially working with the Nami team as a mentor through Scottish Enterprise’s High Growth portfolio, Albert has since provided ongoing support to co-founders Nico and Rebecca. This latest appointment will provide further integration with the business, to maximise his input and guidance.

Our co-founder and Chief Technical Officer, Dr Rebecca Cleary, commented:

“Nami is entering an exciting stage. With fresh investment we are able to fast-track our first product to market, carry out more research to develop our product pipeline, and truly push the limits of what’s possible in ultrasonic surgery.

Albert’s guidance across all aspects of our business will be a vital support as we look to commercialise and compete on the global Medtech market.”

As well as ongoing Governance responsibilities as Chair, Albert will support Nami with partnerships and all aspects of commercial strategy.
